Laser treatments can dramatically rejuvenate your skin—but what you apply before and after can either enhance or hinder those results. Whether you’re prepping for your first HALO session or following up an IPL series, here’s your go-to skincare survival guide.

Pre-Treatment: Keep It Simple

Avoid Retinoids & Acids: Stop using retinol, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and other exfoliants 3–5 days before your appointment.

Hydrate Your Skin Barrier: Use a gentle, hydrating moisturizer twice daily.

Stick with SPF: Daily sunscreen is non-negotiable. Choose mineral formulas with zinc oxide.

Day Of Treatment

No Makeup, No Actives: Come with a clean face—free of makeup, fragrance, or strong products.

Post-Treatment: Heal, Don’t Hype

First 48 Hours: Stick to fragrance-free cleansers and plain moisturizers (think: Aquaphor, Vanicream).

Skip the Serums: No vitamin C, no retinol. Keep your skin calm and protected.

Hydration is Everything: Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and niacinamide (after day 2 or when your provider clears it).

What to Avoid Post-Treatment

❌ Scrubs, peels, or anything with exfoliating beads

❌ Hot environments like saunas or steam rooms

❌ Makeup for 24–48 hours depending on intensity of the laser

Bonus: Ask your provider about post-procedure kits—we often include everything you need in a recovery bundle.
