Am I a candidate for this treatment?
Laser treatments may not be suitable for individuals with active infections, certain skin conditions, recent tanning or sunburn, or those who are pregnant or nursing. People taking photosensitizing medications, with a history of poor wound healing or keloids, darker skin tones, certain medical conditions, or recent usage of specific skin treatments also may not be ideal candidates. It’s crucial for anyone considering laser therapy to consult with a healthcare professional and provide a full medical history to assess suitability, safety, and efficacy of this treatment path.
What can I expect during this treatment?
Most sessions will take about 30 minutes and you can expect mild discomfort during and after treatment. 1-3 sessions are recommended. More may be needed for treating scars and stretch marks.
Do I need to prepare my skin before treatment?
It is highly recommended to avoid using any irritants on the skin at least 1 week prior to treatment. This may include Retin-A, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acid, astringents, and Vitamin C. It is also recommended to avoid direct sunlight and self-tanner 4 weeks prior to treatment.
How should I care for my skin after treatment?
Immediately after treatment, you may experience some redness, swelling and/or brown debris at the surface of the skin. This is common and typically lasts 2-24 hours, however this could last up to 3-5 days in some cases. Your provider will discuss any other possible side effects and the necessary post-treatment care with you during your consultation.
