A Facelift WITHOUT surgery

A PDO thread lift is a popular choice for patients who do not want to undergo surgery, yet want the appearance of a facelift. This minimally invasive treatment reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while stimulating collagen production and cell renewal.

PDO threads can be placed in a variety of areas, including:

  • Eyebrows
  • Crow’s feet
  • Cheeks
  • Nasal folds
  • Neck
  • Jowls
  • Jawline
  • Mouth

How it Works

A PDO thread lift is a non-surgical facelift where facial skin is lifted and tightened using Polydioxanone (PDO) threads. A medical doctor places the threads, which are anchored and inserted into different layers of the skin using needles. This instantly lifts and tightens sagging skin.

The number of threads needed will depend on your unique goals and skin, but anywhere from 1-15 threads may be used per section.

The threads will dissolve about 6 months after the procedure, at which point your new collagen production will already be underway.

What to Expect

Prior to treatment, patients meet with Dr. Medrano to discuss their goals and determine if threads are suited for their needs.

A PDO thread lift appointment may take up to an hour depending on the number of threads being placed. Before beginning, the medical provider will numb the area to reduce any possible discomfort.

Following your appointment, you may experience mild discomfort, swelling or bruising in the first few days, or possible dimpling (which is temporary). Dr. Medrano will give you specific care instructions, and discuss what activities to avoid during your recovery period. Follow-up visits may be scheduled to check on your progress and the condition of the threads. PDO threads naturally dissolve within 4 to 6 months after the procedure, but the collagen that has been stimulated will continue to work for several months. Most patients see continued improvement in skin texture, firmness, and contour over time as collagen is produced, with the full effect peaking around six months post-procedure.

Long Lasting Results

A PDO thread lift offers long-lasting results, with most patients reporting a noticeable difference for up to 24 months. Threads stimulate collagen production, which offers results even after the threads themselves dissolve. Additional treatments may be added to  support even longer lasting results.

PDO Thread Lift vs. Face Lift

Minimally Invasive

PDO Threads are non-surgical and involve only small incisions, while facelifts require more extensive surgical procedures with larger incisions.

Less Downtime

Recovery time for PDO Threads is typically shorter compared to a facelift, allowing individuals to return to their daily activities sooner.

Natural-Looking Results

PDO Threads provide a more subtle and natural-looking lift, whereas facelifts can sometimes result in a more dramatic, pulled appearance.

Anesthesia

Facelifts often require general anesthesia, while PDO Threads can often be done with local anesthesia, reducing risks associated with being under general anesthesia.

Stimulates Collagen

PDO Threads stimulate the body's natural collagen production, which continues to improve skin quality even after the threads have dissolved. Facelifts do not have this collagen-stimulating effect.

Versatility

PDO Threads can be used for specific areas of the face or body, while facelifts are typically a more comprehensive procedure.

Reduced Risk

The risk of complications and scarring is generally lower with PDO Threads compared to a facelift.

Cost

PDO Threads are generally more cost-effective compared to a full facelift.
