There are so many facial treatments and protocols out there, it can be overwhelming. Kenny Kravitz, an aesthetician at Innovative MedSpa’s River North Location advises his clients that a Hydrafacial is the perfect place to start their skin care journey.

What is a Hydrafacial? The treatment utilizes patented technology to boost the overall health and appearance of your skin. The Vortex-Fusion system works to exfoliate, extract, and hydrate the skin on a deeper level, similar to chemical peels and microdermabrasion. Unlike a regular facial service, a Hydrafacial safely and effectively incorporates the benefits of 3 different skincare treatments into one. You may have heard the term “Hydrafacial Glow” circling on social media, this refers to the radiant complexion that immediately follows a Hydrafacial treatment.

Hydrafacial has started their very own #glowvolution, and we are happy to be a part of it! Here are the 3 basic steps to restoring your youthful glow with a Hydrafacial.

1. Cleanse & Exfoliate

To start, the aesthetician will cleanse your skin using a medical-grade cleanser and sponge in a gliding motion. Kayla Torres, a licensed aesthetician at our Wicker Park location commented, “I like to use the ZO Skin Health Gentle Cleanser. It foams up nicely to help break through dirt and oils, smells amazing, and is silky smooth, allowing for a relaxed start to the treatment. It’s gentle, but effective.”

After cleansing manually, the aesthetician will then utilize Hydrafacial’s Vortex technology to cleanse and exfoliate the skin even further. This technology utilizes a Glucosamine cleanser paired with water technology to exfoliate, working to remove the dead skin cells on the skin’s surface, as well as break up the sebum beneath it. In preparation for the extractions, the aesthetician will then work the chemical peel solution into the skin to further assist in breaking up the bacteria under the skin.

2. Extract & Renew

The Hydrafacial is a non-invasive treatment that delivers the results of an invasive treatment. However, unlike a microdermabrasion procedure, this treatment is virtually painless. Using a multi-action beta HD solution that contains salicylic acid, the aesthetician will begin to extract the sebum that was previously broken up during the exfoliating process. Some clients may experience some redness during this process, however that will subside shortly after.

3. Hydrate & Restore

Immediately following extractions the aesthetician will infuse a blend of hyaluronic peptides and antioxidants back into the skin. This powerful blend is what helps give your skin that plump and refreshed appearance, restoring and maximizing your natural glow. It truly sets the Hydrafacial apart from other common skincare services.

The Hydrafacial is beneficial for treating fine lines, acne-prone skin, dry skin, hyperpigmentation, sun damage, and more. At Innovative MedSpa, we offer a variety of add-on perks to further boost your desired results. These include LED Light Therapy, Dermaplane, Lip Perk, Jelly Mask, Lymphatic Drainage and more.
